Poetry Hike at Government Canyon State Natural Area

  • When: Saturday, February 15, 2025,  9:30 am - 11:30 am
  • Location: 12861 Galm Rd., San Antonio, TX 78254
  • Cost: Free with Park Admission

Spend a morning reading and composing poetry on this special hike. We’ll be hiking about 1.25 miles on the Discovery Trail, stopping and writing along the way.

This activity is open to ages 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Meet at the Rainwater Tower outside the Visitor Center. Lots A & B will have the closest parking. The hike will leave promptly at 9:30 AM.

What to Wear & Bring:
Dress for hiking outdoors. Wear layers that can be taken on or off as the day's weather changes. Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and bring a journal for writing. Bring a snack, at least 1 liter of water per person and a towel or pad for sitting on along the trail.

Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.
To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass. Day passes can be reserved beginning one month before the date of your visit.

Please note: reserving a Day Pass does not guarantee a spot for you on the hike! The hike is limited to the first 10 participants to check-in with the hike leader.
