Since 1891, thousands of incredible women have poured their passion, creativity, and volunteer spirit into the Battle of Flowers Parade — the celebration that started it all.
Known as “Where Fiesta Began,” the Battle of Flowers Parade is proudly the largest parade run entirely by women in the United States. As the founding event of Fiesta, it brings more than 550,000 spectators together each year to celebrate Texas history, community, and tradition.
The purpose of the parade is to honor the defenders of the Alamo and Goliad and to commemorate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto that gained Texas its independence. Spectacular flower-covered floats with participants adorned in colorful costumes, giant helium balloons, horse-drawn carriages, antique cars, uniformed military, colorful cavalcades, and thousands of students in marching bands, vanguards, and pep squads have come to entertain the crowds for the past 133 years.
