Work by Art Appreciation and Art I students are inspired by traditional Mexican Día De Los Muertos altars.

Day of the Dead, a holiday influenced by Aztec culture in what is now present-day Mexico, reunites the living and dead for an annual festive celebration. Participants collect offerings tailored to their deceased loved one that stimulates the senses to build an altar.

In arcos y ofrendas you’ll find multimedia works inspired by this holiday of remembrance. Students reflected upon their connection to those who have passed. Each piece tells a story. Our community is invited to engage in these narratives and to join the celebration with pan de muerto and hot chocolate too!

These contemporary pieces reflect the worlds of our students.
Visitors to arcos y ofrendas will celebrate life and death. This will include artwork honoring passed family members, pets and even fictional characters.
