Bexar Heritage Center - Donativos de Béxar

  • When: Friday, March 20, 2026, 10:00 am
  • Location: Bexar County Courthouse: 100 Dolorosa St., San Antonio, Texas 78205
  • Cost: Free

This special program highlights the often-overlooked role Spanish Texans played in supporting the American Revolution. Through donativos (donations), they contributed silver pesos, thousands of head of cattle, and other essential supplies to aid the colonial cause. The speakers will discuss the role of American Indians in the missions who raised and gathered cattle for long drives escorted by presidio soldiers, along with the funds collected under the royal decree of Spanish King Carlos III. Discover how these united efforts from across Spanish Texas helped advance the fight for American independence.

The event will take place in the Double Height Courtroom of the Bexar County Courthouse.
