When you race with PMP Pals for the One-in-a-Million 5K Run/Walk, you’re helping us go the distance with Appendix Cancer. This rare disease, on the rise worldwide, affects one in a million people each year.
San Antonian Sheri Doss is grateful to be alive. Wanting to give back to both her local and peer support cancer communities. In 2024, Sheri created the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk to celebrate her 60th birthday and life beyond Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), closely related to appendix cancer.

Net proceeds from the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk benefit PMP Pals, a global network of patients and caregivers living beyond an Appendix Cancer diagnosis, and related conditions like PMP which affect the gastrointestinal system, digestion, and nutrition. As you run/walk the course at McAllister Park, educational signage explains this rare cancer without a cure on the rise among young people under 40.
