San Antonian Sheri Doss is grateful to be alive. Wanting to give back to both her local and peer support cancer communities. In 2024, Sheri created the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk to celebrate her 60th birthday and life beyond Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), closely related to appendix cancer.

Net proceeds from the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk benefit PMP Pals, a global network of patients and caregivers living beyond an Appendix Cancer diagnosis, and related conditions like PMP which affect the gastrointestinal system, digestion, and nutrition. As you run/walk the course at McAllister Park, educational signage explains this rare cancer without a cure on the rise among young people under 40.
