Glenda Woods Girls University is a full-day summer day camp for girls in 1st-6th grade. Each week has a different theme and includes core activities in art, science, reading, and sports. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided. Weekly field trips and multiple swim days!
Weekly Session Themes:
Week 1 (June 3-7): Be Our Chef
Calling all young chefs! Grab your gear and get ready for a culinary adventure. This week campers will implement kitchen safety while learning some of their favorite recipes, so tie up your apron and let’s get cooking. Majors: Culinary Arts/Nutrition
Week 2 (June 10-14): Time-Traveling Explorers
From recreating DaVinci’s inventions to exploring ancient civilizations and space, each day features hands-on STEM challenges for an engaging and interactive experience. Throughout the week, campers will not only discover the wonders of history and science but also develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the interconnections of the past, present, and future. Majors: History/Science/Engineering
Week 3 (June 17-18, 20-21): Going Green (No camp on June 19th)
Learn ways you can conserve and preserve our Earth from your own home. Explore different ways you can contribute to maintaining the sustainability of our planet. This includes preserving our land, conserving our water, and protecting our air. Majors: Biology/Ecology/Aquatic Sciences
Week 4 (June 24-28): My Mind and Me
Girls will navigate all things mental health from identifying and exploring what goes on inside of their brains to gaining skills in self-care and coping strategies. Girls will put these into practice through activities such as guided yoga and meditations to learn how we experience and regulate our emotions physically. Majors: Psychology/Counseling/Behavioral Health
Week 5 (July 8-12): Disney Week
Be our guest for a week packed with all things Disney – where we are strong like Mulan, smart like Belle, and bold like Merida. From behind the curtain, to the spotlight on stage, we strive to cultivate self-confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Majors: Theater/Dance/Visual Arts
Week 6 (July 15-19): Girls Gone Global
Girls will grab their passports and travel the world with us, learning about different foods, music, dance, language, and traditions of other countries. As we explore what strong, smart, and bold girls look like around the world, girls will be able to explore and take pride in their own cultures. Majors: Anthropology/Geography/Sociology
Week 7 (July 22-28): Who Done It?
Oh jinkies, the Girls Inc. detectives need your help with a case! Do you love solving mysteries? Think you can find the culprit? We will explore the fields of criminal justice and forensic science as we try to unravel the clues and solve the case. Majors: Criminal Justice/Forensic Science
Week 8 (July 29 – August 2): Girls Inc. Summer Olympics
