Alamo City Symphony Viva presents Dreams and Fate

Viva is joined by pianist Paul Jensen for the first movement of Manuel de Falla’s atmospheric “Nights in the Garden of Spain”, after which the orchestra will probe the depths of Tchaikovsky’s momentous Symphony No. 5.
Bringing together a blend of captivating music, this concert will feature two major works:
Manuel de Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain": This is a beautifully evocative piece for piano and orchestra, often described as a symphonic impression. It conjures images of the lush, mysterious gardens of Spain, blending the sensuality of Andalusian music with an impressionistic soundscape. The piece, with its lush harmonies and rhythmic vitality, paints a picture of exotic, dreamlike settings, sure to be brought to life by the evening's piano soloist, Paul Jensen.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5: One of Tchaikovsky's most famous symphonies, Symphony No. 5 is an emotional journey through fate, hope, and destiny. It’s characterized by its dramatic and expressive melodies, with a recurring "fate" theme that ties the movements together. Known for its powerful crescendos, sweeping orchestral passages, and poignant motifs, this symphony builds from a somber beginning to a triumphant finale.
This concert promises to be a mesmerizing combination of Spanish passion and Russian grandeur, transporting the audience through dreamlike gardens and the dramatic twists of fate. If you love classical music, this will be an unforgettable performance!
