Our Homeschool Sewing Club is geared for beginners and confident beginners-- kids who know how to use a sewing machine, who have taken classes or camps with us in the past, or for kids new to Abby's Attic who are looking to level up their sewing skills with challenging projects! If a student enters the beginner's class and demonstrates rapid improvement, we will invite them to join the advanced class.
The challenge skills we have planned for these classes are:
detailed small work
an emphasis on technique and results
pattern reading
working with challenging materials such as knits, vinyl, and faux fur
gathering techniques
zippers
the opportunity to learn how to use a serger
NOTE: Kids must take BOTH multi-session classes if they are registered for them. There will be no make up classes nor credits for these if a child misses one class. See our Cancellation Policy for more info.
Kids will sew on a machine and by hand, while also reinforcing reading, measuring, estimating, and other math skills.
This class will also include mulit-day projects (indicated with an * and in bold) and pattern reading.
All materials are included and each week is a different project.
