
Since 1961, more than a million San Antonio school children and community members have learned about stars, planets, black holes and distant galaxies at the Scobee Planetarium. With the extensive renovation completed in 2014, the Scobee Planetarium now offers a more dynamic experience to even more visitors. The planetarium seats 100 individuals in reclined seats, a light and sound system and the most advanced Digistar 7 projection system.
The Scobee Planetarium offers public presentations on Friday nights with the schedule as follows:
6:30 PM - Enjoy an animated family program with no age restrictions, show topic changes monthly.
8:00 PM - Sky Tonight Live! - Children must be 6 yrs or older to attend. Take a live tour of the San Antonio sky.
*This show is always provided as scheduled.
9:30 PM - More academic movie programs are presented. Children must be 6 yrs or older to attend. The show topic changes monthly.
Although, San Antonio College’s address is listed as 1819 N. Main Ave, the Scobee building is located toward the center of campus across from the Candler Gym, accessed through the western entrance of the campus closer to the pseudo address of 1198 San Pedro Ave. Parking is free in unreserved spaces in parking garage #3, facing San Pedro Ave., located at the traffic light for this entrance.
NOTE: Young children must have a paid ticket if a seat is occupied. Infants and toddlers are FREE if they remain on a parent's lap and do not sit in a seat.
*Parents, please do not ask to waive the age restrictions for the 8:00 and 9:30 PM shows.
