12/07 Government Canyon State Natural Area - Winter Holiday Traditions

Celebrate the holidays the old-fashioned way by hand-crafting items families might have made on the historic ranches that became Government Canyon. Learn about and make evergreen wreaths, hand-dipped candles, and other traditional holiday toys and crafts at this come-and-go-event. The Discovery Trail would be great for a winter's hike before or after.

Who Is Invited:
This activity is open to all ages. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Where to Meet:
Meet at the Exhibit Gallery, next to the Visitor Center.

How to Prepare:
Registration is NOT required. Though the activity is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. We often fill to capacity. To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and print out a day pass. Day passes can be reserved beginning one month before the date of your visit.

Dress for time spent outdoors. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat are recommended. Wear layers that can be added or removed as weather conditions change. Bring at least 1 liter of water per person.
