10/24 Día de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones at Mission Marquee Plaza

Join the World Heritage Center in celebrating Día de los Muertos with family-friendly activities and an altar installation by Ruth Buentello.

The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and its partners will celebrate the Day of the Dead with its night annual, “Día de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones." The event will include a procession and dance at Mission Marquee Plaza, 3100 Roosevelt Ave.

“Día de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones” will honor the legacy of the descendants of San Antonio’s historic Missions and engage the nearby community and several generations of family members who will share their family histories and memories with activities the entire community can witness and take part in. The event is free and open to the public.

The community is invited to contribute photos to honor past loved ones, family, and friends to our remembrance tribute at Mission Marquee Plaza. A remembrance slideshow will be created and displayed on the big screen during the Dia de los Muertos event.

Stop by the World Heritage Center for family-friendly activities and stay for “Frankenweenie” at the Mission Marquee Plaza Outdoor Family Film Series presented by H-E-B.

Please submit photos of your loved one(s) with their names clearly identified by Monday, October 12, 2026. The community is encouraged to also bring copies of the photos to contribute to the community altars that will be on the stage during the event.
