Northside Independent School District's Communications Arts High School is a magnet school housed on the William Howard Taft High School campus as a "school within a school." We are located just outside Loop 1604 on Culebra Road in Northwest San Antonio.
Communications Arts High School (CAHS) promotes rigorous, foundational learning in a personal, supportive environment, where students develop skills in communications and technology, and courses emphasize collaborative choice and fluidity between disciplines. CAHS offers a college preparatory setting that is rich, inviting, and rigorous. Cross-curricular lessons are infused with technology and realworld experiences to create students who can communicate successfully in many modes. Students will be able to explore cultural, social, rhetorical, and communications processes, which makes them marketable in any career field.
Students are enrolled in core classes that are Pre-AP, AP, and/or Dual Credit. CAHS students are able to take advantage of any extracurricular activity at Taft HS such as athletics, spirit, band, and ROTC. All students agree to pursue the Multidisciplinary Studies diploma endorsement obtained through the CAHS curriculum. However, other endorsements may be earned based on different elective choices.
Any NISD eighth grade student may apply for admission. Each year, approximately 200 freshmen are accepted to enter the four-year program. An admissions committee reviews each application for acceptance.
