After School All Stars

The Edgewood Independent School District is a hard story to tell without After-School All-Stars San Antonio (ASAS San Antonio). Thanks to a generous gift in 2003 from ASAS board member, Todd Wagner, ASAS San Antonio was able to officially incorporate themselves into two schools: E.T. Wrenn Middle School and Brentwood Middle School. Soon after, miracles seemed to be taking place at Brentwood Middle School. This momentum was leveraged and within the year After-School All-Stars was able to pick up 2 middle schools and three elementary schools when the existing afterschool program provider pulled out the schools. With more schools, funding from 21st Century grants, and hard work from staff, ASAS San Antonio can provide more students in the Edgewood Independent School District comprehensive afterschool programming. The district felt an impact as student test scores in the community increased.
