Bexar County 4-H & Youth Development

Bexar County 4-H & Youth Development

4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H is about having fun, learning, exploring and discovering. In 4-H, young people make new friends, develop new skills, become leaders and help shape their communities. Some 4-H youth work with animals, while others choose food, crafts, sports, or even technology! Whatever the project, 4-H members become active members of their community and make the best better.

The projects for 4-H are as diverse as today’s youth. Some youth pursue hobbies such as computers, arts & crafts, photography, horticulture, woodwork, sewing and cooking. Other youth choose skill sports such as sport fishing, shooting sports, and biking while others select animal projects such a livestock, horses, dog training or exotic animals. Regardless of the selected project, 4-H youth are encouraged to do community service and to develop leadership skills. We have many opportunities for recognition, competition with peers, and of course FUN! 4-H projects are grouped together within the “Big 5” project groups (Agriculture and Livestock, Family and Community Health, Leadership and Citizenship, Natural Resources, and Science Technology Engineering and Math) within these “Big 5” are multiple 4-H projects for youth of all ages and backgrounds!
