San Antonian Fossil Exhibition: Opening Celebration at Phil Hardberger Park

  • When: Saturday, January 4, 2025, 11:00 am
  • Location: 8400 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78231
  • Cost: Free

Come explore and celebrate a collection of Rocks and Fossils from central Texas as we host a special exhibition for two weeks! This special exhibition was collected and curated by Mr. Jesus Zamora. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mr. Zamora admired and collected seashells on the beach as a child. On a hike as an adult, a chance discovery of a fossil within a rock reignited his curiosity. When he moved to San Antonio and explored the creeks, he began to use his knowledge as an engineer and geology enthusiast to learn more about the fossils of the greater San Antonio and Hill Country area. As his collection grew, he took the time to clean, study, and curate them developing this exhibition to share with the community and inspire curiosity in others.
Join us for our opening celebration at which Mr. Zamora will give a special presentation about his collection and its fascinating story. Light refreshments provided. Bonus: Adopt a Pet Rock of your very own (while supplies last). Pet Rocks are only available during exhibit viewing times.
