The 134th Battle of Flowers Parade celebrates the harmonious fusion of Texas music and the blooming month of May. The streets of San Antonio will come alive as “Melodies in Bloom: A Texas Serenade” marches to a musical beat, stepping off at and parading through the streets of downtown San Antonio. Celebrating the spirit of Texas through music, blossoms, and community, the parade weaves together the rich musical heritage of the Lone Star State and the vibrant colors of Texas in bloom.

The Battle of Flowers Parade is one of the few parades in the United States produced entirely by women, all of whom are volunteers. The purpose of the parade is to honor the defenders of the Alamo and Goliad and to commemorate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto that gained Texas its independence. Spectacular flower-covered floats with participants adorned in colorful costumes, giant helium balloons, horse-drawn carriages, antique cars, uniformed military, colorful cavalcades, and thousands of students in marching bands, vanguards, and pep squads have come to entertain the crowds for the past 133 years.
