Dr. Hill will present information on suicide risk assessment procedures and protocols and describe a model for conceptualizing suicide risk levels. Case examples will be presented and attendees will develop skills for conceptualizing suicide risk. In the second half of the presentation, Dr. Hill will describe methods for managing suicide risk following a risk assessment and will introduce the Safety Planning Intervention.
As a result of this activity, attendees will be able to:
1. Describe key elements of a suicide risk assessment.
2. Describe and apply a model for conceptualizing suicide risk into various risk levels.
3. Describe a variety of responses for managing suicide risk and pair responses with corresponding risk levels.
4. Describe and implement the Safety Planning Intervention as a suicide risk management procedure.
