On Monday, January 17, 2022 at 10:00 am, the MLK Commission will host the in-person 35th Annual MLK March. We will be prioritizing the health and safety of our community and visitors while continuing to honor and celebrate Dr. King.

We are very proud that each year our community comes out for such an important annual event honoring the values and the fight of a man who embodied a message of social and economic justice, protest and human rights. The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr has had one of the biggest impacts - not only on the black community - but on our entire human society.

Of course, this is not a celebration or a parade. This is a March for our rights, particularly voting rights, which we can find are under constant attack. It is to honor and remember the lives of those lost to racism, such as Trayvonn Martin whose only crime was wearing a dark hoodie and holding skittles. Lives lost to police brutality, such as our city’s own Damian Daniels who only sought help. And those who have faced abuse for standing up for our rights by protesting.
