Annually, Alamo Heroes Chapter of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas host the San Jacinto Victory Celebration at the Alamo. The event pays a reverent tribute to celebrate Texas winning her independence on April 21, 1836 at the Battle of San Jacinto. A battle that was won in 18 minutes and changed the course of Texas forever.
Founded in 1891, the Daughters of The Republic of Texas is the Oldest Patriotic Women’s organization in Texas and one of the oldest in the nation.
The objectives of the association are to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the people who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas and to encourage historical research into the earliest records of Texas, especially those relating to the revolutionary and republic periods.
