Join Jane Weeden, City Nature Challenge Bexar County Coordinator, and her volunteer team on a stroll in the canyon followed by a blacklighting event. The program will begin with a short overview on identifying and documenting species using the iNaturalist app. The group will then head onto the Discovery Trail to identify as many species as possible. Afterwards, black light stations will be available for you to observe and photograph insects!
The City Nature Challenge is an international competition to see which city can document the most species of living things from April 25-28. The San Antonio Metro Area has a title to defend, having placed first in the nation last year! Every observation counts toward protecting and celebrating our region’s biodiversity.
This activity is open to all ages and includes both a short, seated activity followed by an easy hike to make identifications.
