St. Mary's baseball stadium, Dickson Stadium, builds upon the steel structure of the historic V.J. Keefe Field, which played home to Rattler games for over 50 years. Among the many features of the 2,260-seat baseball stadium are left-field berm seating and box seats behind home plate. Both bring fans to the edge of the game and provide the feel of a prestigious ballpark. Fans could be treated to an unmatched view of every ball and strike from behind home plate or bring their family and enjoy a sunny day at the park in the berm seating, which also provides space for receptions and private gatherings. The stadium, which is built upon the steel structure of the old venue, will bear the name Dickson Stadium honoring a naming gift from Dave Dickson (B.B.A. ’68). 

The facility was completed in 2013 and hosted its first St. Mary's Baseball action in the spring of 2014. 

St. Mary’s has long enjoyed a strong bond with the surrounding community, going back to the old V.J. Keefe Field’s position as a community venue that hosted nearly 300 games in any given year for all kinds of events ranging from high-school playoff games to summer youth league competition. The new complex will only build on that relationship. In fact, the facilities were constructed with this audience in mind, with an intimate feel that will bring fans closer to the action serving as the backbone of the design.

The old V.J. Keefe Field, dedicated in 1958, hosted St. Mary's baseball for 54 seasons through the 2011 season, and also served as home of the San Antonio Missions from 1964 through 1994, with Los Angeles Dodger greats like Fernando Valenzuela making their way onto the field.

The construction of Dickson Stadium, part of the bigger project that brought The Park at St. Mary's to campus, coincides with the University's mission, which as a Catholic Marianist University is to foster the formation of people in faith and educate leaders for the common good through community, integrated liberal arts and professional education, and academic excellence. The complex is a vital part of the community of the West Side of San Antonio, with it being able to host a variety of activities and programs designed to meet the interests and needs of the public. These activities include youth sports clinics, athlete autograph-signing opportunities, festivals and concerts, and the collection of food items at the facilities to help people in the community.
