San Antonio City Council voted in November 2013 to name Lakeside Park for Milam Wesley Tealer. A ceremony dedicating the park's new name was held March 29, 2014. Mr. Tealer served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 26 years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and received the prestigious Four Chaplains' Award. Mr. Tealer was active in the Lakeside Neighborhood Association, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 128, and the Flotilla Boating and Fishing Club. Mr. Tealer battled cancer for more than 13 years before he passed away.
