Description:

Small secluded area to enjoy quiet time.

Col. Harley T. "Swampy" Marsh passed away peacefully at home in San Antonio on the evening of September 7, 2012 at the age of 95 from complications caused by leukemia. Swampy's military career began at the age of 13 when he was enrolled at Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV. He graduated West Point in June 1941 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Infantry. Swampy spent the next 30 years serving his country with pride and distinction earning numerous awards and recognitions.  Swampy was part of the "Greatest Generation" who went about their daily tasks quietly, without fanfare, without complaining and expecting no thanks or recognition. In his community of Bel Meade he became the "go to" person when something needed to be done. In recognition of the many of years work and service he did for his community, in May 2000, the City Council of San Antonio passed an ordinance naming a Bel Meade greenspace "Swampy Marsh Park". He viewed this as a highlight of his life. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sanantonio/obituary.aspx?pid=159726987#...
