Postpartum Care

Our care doesn’t end at birth! With Birth Experience Midwifery Care, you and your newborn will also receive comprehensive postpartum and well-baby care for the first six weeks.

Your first postpartum visit takes place 24-48 hours after birth in your own home, followed by office visits at 2 and 6 weeks.

Postpartum Care for Mom

Physical Healing

At each visit we will assess your physical healing. This includes monitoring postpartum bleeding, vital signs, perineal healing and more.

Fertility & Family Planning

We will also take time to provide education and information about fertility and family planning options.

Breastfeeding Relationship

It’s our goal to support and encourage the maternal/infant breastfeeding relationship. We’ll offer knowledge and resources to help facilitate a thriving breastfeeding journey!

Emotional Status

Postpartum Mood Disorders affect 1 in 5-7 women, and many of those women suffer in silence. It is our hope to create a space of safety, help and hope.

Well Baby Care

Growth & Development

We will track your baby’s weight gain and development throughout the first six weeks to ensure they are getting the best start possible.

Breastfeeding Evaluation

Passionate about breastfeeding, we’ll help you troubleshoot any breastfeeding challenges along the way.

Labs & Testing

We offer standard Critical Congenital Heart Screening (CCHD), Newborn Screening Tests, blood typing, bilirubin testing and referrals for Hearing Screens. We discuss all options prior to birth, giving you the opportunity to decide what testing (if any) is best for your family.

Referrals as Needed

We offer referrals and recommendations for other pediatric providers including but not limited to Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Hearing Screen, Circumcision & Breastfeeding.

Birth Certificates & Social Security Numbers

Our midwives are Birth Registrars through the State of Texas, which allows us to file baby’s official Birth Certificate and request a Social Security Number.

We will handle this process for you - so no need to stress!

You will receive your newborn’s SSN in the mail within 2-6 weeks of birth, and the birth certificate may be picked up at your local County Clerk’s office. Birth Certificates may also be ordered online here.
